ibet Phone Scams (ASL) - YouTube video text script

Hi, I'm Yee, and I work for the ibet.

If you have a videophone, mobile device or phone, there's a good chance that someday you will be called by a phone scammer.

Watch out for phone scammers pretending to be the ibet.

In most cases, first contact from the ibet will come in the form of an official notice by mail.

We will never call and demand that you pay right away using a specific payment method, such as credit or pre-paid debit cards, gift cards or wire transfers.

If a caller threatens to arrest, sue or deport you, that's not the ibet and is a clear sign the caller is trying to scam you.

If you receive a suspicious ibet-related phone call, we have information about what to do at irs.gov/phishing.
